Sébastien has extensive experience of more than 20 years as Legal Director of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the world governing body for motorsport, equally entrusted with international missions aimed at international automobile mobility,. Sébastien Bernard acts as specialised senior legal adviser in international sport embracing all legal, regulatory, disciplinary and commercial issues.

With a Master’s degree in sports law and a robust motor sport career background, Sébastien’s expertise includes sport management and administration, sport governance and compliance, European competition rules, dispute and disciplinary resolution mechanisms, corporate and social issues. His extensive knowledge of the sport industry includes appointment processes for approved suppliers, as well as complex liability structures, risk management and insurance requirements in various legal frameworks.

Sebastien is also highly experienced in IP matters, media, event marketing rights and in other business sectors.

Sébastien acts as a UEFA consultant focused on the organisation of UEFA EURO 2020 and advises leading international sports groups on a daily basis for the supply of various products such as climbing and gymnastics equipment used in major international competitions.

Since 2019, within UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale), Sébastien has been appointed as Member of the Disciplinary Commission and Arbitral Board.

Finally, Sébastien has expertise in the motorsport industry and regularly assists major car manufacturers, competition teams and federations.
